My
foundation
"Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice, is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock."
Matthew cap 7 v 24-25 NIV
You will never get to old to learn something new – to get new knowledge. From this knowledge – a certainty – a certainty to experience and ask yourself “is my foundation in order, is my cornerstone laid in solid ground?”
This foundation is where I get the strength, to resist and face the challenges I meet in my life. The foundation - is my faith in God, Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit.
To embrace faith, is to understand the values. These I can read about in the Bible. The foundation is built for me understanding the love God has for me, to understand what Jesus went through - for me – and what I can give back in return.
In Acts cap 20 v 35 it says “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: it is more blessed to give than to receive”. NIV. I do not give to others to strengthen my self-confidence;
I give to others from the love I receive from God. It doesn’t have to have anything to do with money. But to do something for someone in need, without expecting to get something back in return. That is love.
If we weigh our own deeds in relation to how it can benefit ourself, the foundation will not last. In time cracks will appear. This way of thinking will distance us from the cristian foundation.
“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
John cap 15 v 4-5 NIV
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well"
Matthew cap 6 v 33 NIV
